When your aluminium or timber-framed windows require window maintenance, Mista Glass can assist. Our glazier is talented at fixing ranch slider wheels; sticky locks and latches; adjusting window stays; re-rubbering; and re-puttying.
Aluminium doors and ranch sliders should roll freely on their tracks and open and close with ease. If you notice the door doesn’t slide easily, then you may have a broken roller. If this is the case, please resolve this quickly. If this problem is ignored, constant opening and closing will grind away the aluminium and wear away the guide that the door rolls on.
It is recommended that aluminium windows are kept maintained. For example, if the rubber is lifting out of the frame, it is best to replace it. This prevents water from entering the window frame and causing further damage.
If you have timber framing, the back putty must be removed and replaced when reglazing. To prevent the new putty from cracking, the inside of the framework needs to be primed with a water-based primer. The finished outside edge should also be finished with putty. Mista Glass uses a small planer on the outside edge of the timber to leave a smooth, straight edge. If your timber windows are stained, coloured putty is applied to match it.
